Electric food slicer safety ON=OFF switch

The slicer has a handle housing an electric motor used to reciprocate at least one cutting blade projecting from the handle. The motor is controlled by a safety ON/OFF switch incorporated in the handle, the switch operating element having an associated blocking element which must first be moved into an inoperative position before the switch operating element can be moved from the OFF position to the ON position. Pref. the blocking element comprises a button which is depressed against a spring bias to move it into the inoperative position to free the path of the switch operating element or to release it from the switch rod associated with the switch operating element. The blocking element and the switch operating element are pref. positioned side by side in a line within the handle.
