PURPOSE:To produce a clad steel with a good cladding ratio and yield in the stage of rolling and joining a multiple-unit slab consisting of a ferrous alloy of a base material and a copper alloy of a cladding material and producing the copper alloy clad steel by disposing a filler aound the cladding material of the multiple-unit slab apart at a specified spacing therefrom. CONSTITUTION:A ferrous alloy base material 2 and a copper or copper alloy cladding material 6 are superposed, and further a restraining material 4 is placed thereon to form a multiple-unit slab. Such slab is rolled and joined whereby a copper or copper alloy clad steel is produced. A filler 8 is disposed around the material 6 on the material 2 apart at a prescribed spacing (d) therefrom and the materials are rolled and joined. The value of (d) is set at d=(beta+L)/2, wherein L is the length (mm.) of the material 2 of the multiple-unit slab and beta is the value corresponding to the heating temp. for rolling within the range enclosed of points A-F in the graph plotting the heating temp. for rolling at the X-axis and beta at the Y-axis. The copper alloy clad steel having a good cladding ratio is produced with a high product yield. |
