PURPOSE:To convey a high-temp. slab without temp. drop, by forming grooves on a roll surface and providing heat insulating materials wound with metallic sheets in multiple layers in the grooves. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 1 are formed circumferentially on a roll surface, and plural lines of the grooves 1 are provided apart from each other in the axial direction of the roll. Thin metallic sheets 2 of stainless steel or the like are wound in multiple layers around the axial line of the roll. The sheets 2 are adhered to each other by spot welding at every prescribed interval. The high heat insulation effect is thus obtd. by the sheets 2 in the grooves 1 and the dislodging of the sheet 2 by the collision owing to the oscillation of the roll and the collision between the slab and the roll, and the centrifugal force generated as a result of the high speed revolution of the roll is thoroughly prevented. |
