PURPOSE:To maintain a gas detector in a pref. state from the point of view of safety and maintenance without losing the function thereof at all, by a method wherein the gas detector is placed on a structure capable of being floated on water or put therein and floated along with said structure even if rain, water or the like are flowed into a chamber housing a gas storage vessel. CONSTITUTION:A gas detector 5 mounted on a float 4 made of foamed polystyrene is placed at a predetermined position on the floor surface 3 in a pit 2 and a guide 7 is connected to a guide support apparatus 9 provided to the outside of the pit 2 through a ring 6 provided to the float 4. In adition, the detecting wire 8 of the detector 5 is fixed along with the guide support apparatus 9. Even if rain water is accumulated in the pit 2 at the time of localized torrential downpour, the detector 5 is floated along with the float and gas leakage can be normally detected and a acident can be prevented. Conventionally, the maintenance of the detector is periodically and frequently performed but, by this new mechanism, maintenance work is not necessitated at all. |
