The invention relates to a piston pump having a plurality of delivery pistons with constant stroke arranged in cylinder bores around the centre axis and actuated by an axially acting stroke device, and an intake chamber centrally arranged in the pump housing between the cylinder bores and defined by a control valve, the control valve being axially displaceable by means of a control element acted upon by the delivery pressure against the force of springs. The aim is an improved overall control characteristic. At the same time constant pressure control is to be realised. To this end, a piston pump has been created in which a control cylinder is arranged in the inner chamber of the pump housing and has throttle cross-sections for the individual inflows to the respective delivery units. These throttle cross-sections are covered or freed in relation to the common intake chamber by means of the bottom edge of the control valve as a function of the delivery pressure. The piston pump according to the invention is preferably suited for operating conditions in which a constant delivery pressure is necessary throughout.
