<p>Glass fibre-reinforced composites (I) comprise 100 pts. wt. PVC of K-value 55-75, 40-100 pts. wt. glass fibres having dia. 5-25 microns, with length up to 12 mm, and 1-25 pts. wt. mineral filler with ave. particle dia. below 50 microns. PVC may be homopolymer, postchlorinated PVC, polyvinylidene chloride, or co- or graft-polymer. (I) are readily processed, e.g. by extrusion, and have good mechanical properties (esp. high elastic modulus in extrusion direction. of at least 8000 N per sq. mm at 23 deg.C) without need for adhesion promoters such as metallocenes.</p> |
