A film forming aqueous dispersion of a copolymer of a vinyl ester of an organic acid is prepared by copolymerizing a vinyl ester of a saturated monocarboxylic acid and octene-1 in aqueous dispersion in the presence of a free radical catalyst and a surface active agent and/or a protective colloid. The preferred vinyl ester is vinyl acetate. In the example sodium lauryl sulphate, two ethylene oxide/ nonyl phenol condensates and potassium bicarbonate are used and two solutions of ammonium persulphate added separately. |
