<p>PURPOSE:To ensure the correspondence to the state of the other track side, by using a head for another track to detect the presence or absence of the record at the other track side during the record (reproduction) of a track of at least a double track tape. CONSTITUTION:In the case of the forward reproduction or record, the signal if recorded on a track of reverse direction is detected by a signal detecting circuit 14. Then an FF15 is set. An H signal is supplied to a terminal 16 for a prescribed period of time when a tape end detecting device is actuated. At the same time, the H signal is supplied to a terminal 17 when a reciprocating switch is operated. The L and H signals are supplied to a terminal 18 in record and reproduction mode respectively. As a result, it is avoided that the recorded side of a tape is mistakenly erased when the other side is recorded. Furthermore the reciprocating reproduction is automatically stopped when the other side of the tape is not recorded at the tape end. This prevents the useless reproduction in the opposite side. Thus a double channel tape is applicable to a record/reproduction head, and therefore, the crosstalk is improved in the record and reproduction modes.</p> |
