PURPOSE:To increase porosity and electrochemical activity of a current collector to improve battery performance by using a molding electrode made of carbon fiber as a positive current collector and pouring a liquid active material. CONSTITUTION:A lithium foil 11 is pressed on the inner wall of a negative can 1, and a positive current collector 3 is accommodated with a separator interposed, then a liquid active material is poured to form a lithium battery. The positive current collector is formed in such a way that chopped carbon fiber having a mean length of 0.2mm. and a mean diameter of 13mum is made in a paste state with carboxymethylcellulose solution, and they are molded in a cylindrical form and dried then burned in an atmosphere of nitrogen to form a carbon fiber mold. The current collector has uniform porosity, low electric resistance, moisture content of less than 0.02%, and good electrochemical activity. Therefore, battery performance is increased. |
