PURPOSE:To reproduce a recorded tape with high efficiency, by defining the set gain of a reproducing circuit of a track having the minimum set gain among reproducing circuits as the set gain of a reproducing circuit of a track having the gain outside the allowable value. CONSTITUTION:An ARA burst 3 of a magnetic tape is reproduced and converted into a DC through an integrator 7. The output of this conversion is compared with the reference voltage REF through a comparator 8 to obtain an output 13. This output 13 is supplied to a gain setting circuit 10 within an automatic gain setting circuit 10 within an automatic gain setting circuit 10, and a set gain code 12 is decided to obtain an output of a desired level. The gain of the reproducing output is increased or decreased by the code 12 for the magnetic tape. The reproducing output is greatly reduced if the burst 3 has a flaw, etc. Therefore the code 12 is increased for the output of the circuit 10. Under such conditions, the subsequent data block 4 is reproduced. In such a case, the output of an amplifier 6 is increased too much. Thus a stabilizing circuit 11 works to reset the code 12 of the minimum level of another normal track having the gain within the allowable value. |
