Vehicle lockable glove compartment lid

The lockable glove compartment lid for vehicles has a hand grip flap which carries a lever (4) and is held on a horizontal axle (2). The lever operates a rotatable, sliding rod. In the centre of the lid is a lock (10) with a spring loaded hook lock (11) which automatically locks the rod in the open position. A lever (12) on the lock hook (11) releases the lock by operating the hand grip flap. Also in the lid is fitted a lock cylinder (6) carrying a toothed segment (7) which grips a worm segment (8) in the sliding rod which enables the rod to be locked closed.
