The invention relates to a heater, in particular panel-type radiator, having at least one panel-shaped heating surface, through which preferably heating medium flows, and having at least one convection plate arranged in a thermally conductive fashion on said heating surface and constructed in a profiled fashion, e.g. bent in a meandering or undulating fashion, so that there are formed between the heating surface and the convection plate (3) at least two air ducts (10, 11) which extend upwards from below and are separated from one another by the longitudinal flanks (4) of the profile of the convection plate (3), the air ducts (10, 11) being constructed alternately in an essentially closed and open fashion, and at least the longitudinal flanks (4) of the profile of the convection plate (3) having openings (6) for passage of the air. <IMAGE>
