METHOD FOR REUTILIZING MARAGING STEEL SCRAP

PURPOSE:To reutilize maraging steel shavings as maraging steel with low sulfur content by degreasing the shavings, melting them in an induction melting furnace, and vacuum melting the molten material in a vacuum induction melting furnace as a starting material for refining. CONSTITUTION:Maraging steel shavings are cleaned with an alakline degreasing agent to remove sticking oil contg. sulfide and other impurities. The cleaned shavings are washed in warm water and melted in an induction melting furnace to oxidize and remove Ti and Al in the shavings. The molten material is vacuum melted in a vacuum induction melting furnace as a starting material for refining maraging steel.
