PURPOSE:To record clear multicolor images free of mixing of colors, by providing a thermally transferable ink layer comprising a sublimable dye and a non- sublimable coloring agent and a receiving layer for receiving the sublimable dye in the vapor state, in that order, on a base. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer material 1 comprises a thermal transfer layer 3 on a base 2. The thermal transfer layer 3 is constituted of a thermally transferable ink layer 4 which comprises a sublimable dye 4b and a non- sublimable coloring agent 4c dispersed in a heat-fusible binder 4a and a receiving layer 5 which comprises a heat-fusible binder 5a. The melting point of the binder 4a is preferably 80-130 deg.C. The melting point of the binder 5a is 60-90 deg.C. It is preferable that the melting point of the binder 4a is higher than that of the binder 5a by 20-50 deg.C. If the difference in melting point is less than 10 deg.C, it is difficult to separate the functions of the ink layer 4 and the receiving layer 5 from each other. |
