PURPOSE:To improve heating performance at the starting of a diesel engine, with low electric power consumption, by providing glow plugs in the auxiliary chamber of the engine so that one plug heats at the starting and the other heats thereafter. CONSTITUTION:A first and a second glow plugs 12, 13 are provided at both the sides of a fuel injetion valve 7. The first glow plug 12 rapidly heats at the starting of an engine. The second plug 13 heats at a relatively low temperature after the starting of the engine. The mounted position of each of the glow plugs 12, 13 can be chosen depending on the distribution of temperature in a combustion chamber, the state of fuel supply, etc. to heat the chamber at optimum. The heating after the starting of the engine can be effected by low electric power consumption. |
