PURPOSE:To perform short-wavelength reproduction by recording a signal only in some section of vertical magnetic recording wherein a recording medium is moved relatively with a recording magnetic pole by more than the thickness of the magnetic pole, and stopping the signal in the next section wherein the medium is moved by the same distance. CONSTITUTION:The thickness of the main magnetic pole is L, the running direction of a tape is A, and recording waveform is 2. A switch SW2 turns on in a time t1-t2 and a switch SW1 is turned on in a time t2-t3. A signal passed through the switch SW2, i.e. signal detected by a head tip part is delayed through a delay circuit 9 by a time Tl, phase-inverted by a phase inverting circuit 6, and then sent to a mixing circuit 7 to obtain a signal having the same waveform with a signal passed through the switch SW1; and they are added together to improve the S/N by six dB. Neither lengthwise recording demagnetization nor gap loss in reproduction occurs because of vertical recording, so the short-wavelength recording is performed. |
