<p>PURPOSE:To prepare a phenylacetone useful as an intermediate raw material for various agricultural chemicals, medicines, etc., simply by hydrolyzing an easily synthesizable 1-phenyl-2,2-dialkoxypropane as a raw material. CONSTITUTION:A 3-phenylpropylene expressed by formula I (X, Y and Z are respectively H, OH, halogen, nitro, amino, alkyl or alkoxyl; any two of X-Z together with part of the benzene ring may form a 5- - 7-membered heterocyclic ring containing 1-2 oxygen atoms; R<1> and R<2> are alkyl or benzyl) is reacted with an alkyl nitrite in the presence of an alcohol and a catalyst, e.g. a palladium salt to give a 1-phenyl-2,2-dialkoxypropane expressed by formula III, which is then hydrolyzed to afford a phenylacetone expressed by formula III. EFFECT:The aimed compound can be obtained in very high yield by very easy operation. USE:An intermediate for L-alpha-methyldopa which is a hypotensive agent.</p> |
