<p>In a shoe, a marginal edge portion of the upper (1) overlaps the edge of the sole (3) and is connected with the sole (3) only on its inner surface and preferably along its cut edge (4). The outer surface of the upper (1) is exposed, even at the edge portion, and can merge into the peripheral surface (8) of the sole (3) substantially perpendicular to the wear or tread surface (7) of the sole.
