PURPOSE:To improve abrasion resistance characteristics of both of a magnetic head and a magnetic tape, and to enhance remarkably still characteristics, by incorporating at least Al2O3 or Cr2O3 and TiO in a magnetic layer, and exhibiting both synergistic effect. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape is obtained by mixing 100pts. gamma-Fe2O3, contg. Co, 10pts. vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, 10pts. polyurethane, 2pts. lubricant, and 5pts. carbon, <=15pts. TiO2 powder having 0.01-5mum average particle diameter, <=15pts. Al2O3 having 0.01-5mum average particle diameter, each by weight, and a proper solvent, sufficiently dispersing them in a sand mill, adding a prescribed amt. of hardening agent, and coating a base of a polyester film or the like with this dispersion to about 5mum thickness. The abrasion resistance characteristics of this magnetic tape mounted on a record regenerating machine in traveling is improved by adding the TiO powder to the magnetic layer, and the still characteristics are improved the higher the more the Al2O3 powder is added, but they are enhanced further by adding the TiO2 powder. |
