THE EQUIPMENT FOR THE DEHYDRATION OF GRAINED LOOSE MATERIAL ESPECIALLY OF BLAST-FURNACE SLAG GRANULATED TO SLAG SAND

Molten slag leaving a blast furnace is granulated by spraying with water; and the mixt of sand and water is fed via a gutter into a tank contg a rotating wheel. In the periphery of the wheel is a circular row of sieve troughs, which lift the sand so the water drains through the sieves; and the sand is tipped from the troughs into a hopper feeding a conveyor belt. The water in the tank is fed into a settling basin for clarification, so the water can then be recycled to the spraying nozzles used to granulate the slag. The rotating wheel is pref. located between two filtration gutters from which water can be drained into the tank and/or the settling basin; and each gutter is located below a conveyor belt fitted with scrapers which carry the sand to the hopper. Provides an inexpensive method for draining water from the granulated slag sand.
