PURPOSE:To obtain lead molybdate single crystal optical element without the deterioration in light transmittance by irradiation with lasers, by heat-treating a single crystal in which the part of the lead molybdate is substituted by WO3 in an atmosphere in a specific oxygen concentration. CONSTITUTION:Given amounts of PbO, MoO3 and WO3 are weighed and prepared to give 1-10<4>ppm molar ratio of PbWO4 in (PbMoO4+PbWO4). The resultant raw material powder is then molten to grow a lead molybdate single crystal, which is then heat-treated in an atmosphere in 1-10<3>ppm oxygen concentration. The aimed lead molybdate single crystal optical element having little deterioration in light transmittance even by irradiation with lasers for a long time is obtained by the method. |
