PURPOSE:To improve the braking capacity of the disk brake without the necessity of increasing the weight and the cost thereof of the disk brake by a method wherein a plurality of disk plates are provided on one side of each of the wheels of a vehicle so that they are braked by a single caliper through an intermediate plate. CONSTITUTION:The outer disk plate 7 is screw-fixed to a hub 10 through a boss 11 and the inner disk plate 8 is spline-fitted in the boss 11. The caliper 9 has on its body 12 a pair of pads 14 and 15 and an intermediate pad 16 between the two disk plates and each pad is slidably supported by a support shaft 17. When a pressure oil is supplied into the brake, a piston 18 projects from a cylinder 19 and the body 12 of the caliper 9 moves in the direction opposite the moving direction of the piston so that the pads 14, 15 and 16 and the disk plates 7 and 8 come close to one another and the disk plates 7 and 8 are held clamped among the friction members 14b, 15b and 16b so as to be braked. |
