METHOD AND DEVICE FOR COOLING METALLIC PIPE

PURPOSE:To cool uniformly and efficiently a metallic pipe without bending on account of cooling, by restraining both ends of the metallic pipe of a high temp. and passing a liquid cooling refrigerant at a high velocity in the axial direction of said pipe. CONSTITUTION:At least both ends of a steel pipe 1 of a high temp. is restrained in the position 500mm. from each end to prevent the oscillation such as swing of the pipe 1. High velocity cooling water is ejected from the inside pipe 9 of an injection nozzle having a double pipe construction and low velocity cooling water from the annular space between the outside circumferential surface of the pipe 9 and the inside circumferential surface of an outside pipe 10 simultaneously so that the cooling water is passed at a high velocity in the axial direction of the pipe 1. An accelerating plate 11 for suction which is freely displaceable in the axial direction by the operation of a piston 13 of a cylinder 12 and a spring 14 is provided to the forward end part of the pipe of the above-mentioned injection nozzle, and the forward end thereof is brought into contact with the end part of the pipe 1, whereby the nonuniform cooling near the inlet end of the pipe 1 is prevented.
