PURPOSE:To regulate arbitrarily the surface state of a steel material with respect to rust, by treating the surface of the steel material with a soln. contg. conc. phosphoric acid, an inorg. or org. acid, and a surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A soln. contg. 5-50vol% conc. phosphoric acid, 0-50vol% of >=1 kind of conc. acid selected from inorg. acids such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and nitric acid or an org. acids such as acetic acid and formic acid, and a surfactant is prepared. The soln. is reacted with the surface of a steel material by coating or spraying. After removing mill scale from the surface of the steel material in the single stage, the formation of red rust can be prevented, or red rust can be arbitrarily formed in a certain state within a fixed period. |
