PURPOSE:To miniaturize an automatic answering telephone set and, at the same time, to ensure an adequate response, by selecting freely plural answer messages which are previously recorded on a magnetic tape, and transmitting the selected message to a calling subscriber. CONSTITUTION:An automatic answering telephone set is arranged under an answer recording mode to record plural answer messages on a magnetic tape. When the initiation of the magnetic tape is detected, the operation of the telephone set is discontinued. Then the magnetic tape is traversed rapidly to a recording part of plural answer message recording parts which are selected by an answer message selecting device 26. Thus answer messages are recorded at plural recording parts respectively. In an automatic answering mode, one of selection buttons 26a-26c of the device 26 is pushed to select an answer message to be sent to the calling subscriber. With a push of this button, the tape is traversed rapidly by a command given from a system controller 16. Then the initiation of the recorded part of the answer message is searched to get an incoming waiting state. |
