PURPOSE:To provide a support structure capable of simultaneously carrying out protection and reinforcement of an expansion joint when products are transported and installed and operated by providing pawls which are fitted to each other in a protective shell plate and a shell side shell plate. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of pawls 11 are provided at the upper and lower parts thereof and a plurality of grooves powls 12 having slight clearances with pawls 11 and being fitted thereto are provided at the upper and lower parts of a shell side shell plate 4. While grooved pawls 12 provided in the shell side shell plate 4 in a plurality at the upper and lower parts in consideration of the length of a protective shell plate 10, the grooved pawls 12 fitted in either upper or lower part have such a configuration that the pawls 11 fitted to the protective shell 10 do not slip off. As described above, either of grooved pawls 12 is fixed and clearances are formed between the grooves and the pawls 11. Therefore, at the time of the installation operation, the expansive operation in the perpendicular direction of the expansion joint 5 is not hindered. Further, since the pawls are provided at the upper and lower parts and are fitted to each other, the joint is fixed in the horizontal direction and hence rigidity reinforcensent is carried out. At the time of transporting the products, the pawls 11 provided in the protective shell plate 10 are placed on the protruded portions of the grooved pawls 12 provided in the shell side shell plate 4, and are subjected to seal welding.
