The oblique narrow faces of a flat profiled body (4) from a delay medium are provided with ultrasonic transducers. The profiled body (4) is produced by subdividing a profiled rod (2) having a profile which is corrected after measuring the delay time. According to the invention, the delay time ( tau ) is measured by insonification of an ultrasonic wave before the profiled body (4) is provided with its ultrasonic shear transducers. The profile of the profiled body (4) or of the profiled rod (2) can now still be changed almost in any way and in a simple manner. <IMAGE>
