PURPOSE:To observe a target in an in-focus state and to know distance to the target by generating a synchronizing signal according to the movement of a movable reflector and calculting the distance to the target from the synchronizzing signal and a focuing signal. CONSTITUTION:The center of a visual field is positioned at the target observed through fixed occulars 5 and 5' and then when reflected images from a fixed mirror 11 and a movable mirror 12 coincide with each other, a focusing detection mode 19 generates the focusing signal to adjust the focus to the target automatically. On the other hand, an arithmetic circuit 28 calculates the distance to the target according an equation from measured time t0b from when the synchronizing signal turns off to the generation of the focusing signal stored in a storage circuit 27, measured time t0 stored in a storage circuit 26, and given pieces of information D, DELTA, theta0, and the calculated distance is displayed on a display member 29. Thus, the target is observed in an in-focus state only through a binocular and the distance to the target is known. |
