PURPOSE:To obtain a Hindley worm device, which is simple in its structure, easy to manufacture and operated smoothly, by disposing roller means around the circumference of a disk-like means, urging the roller means toward a worm, and enabling the roller means to turn around a longitudinal axis perpendicular to the axis of a roller. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical support member 22 is fitted into a cylindrical recess 26 formed in a disk-like means 14. Here, since a roller 21 and the cylindrical support member 22 are always urged radially outwards by the function of a coil spring 27, the roller 21 is held in rolling contact with a helical groove 16 of a worm 12 and kept in positive engagement with the groove 16. Further, since arrangement is such that the support member 22 can be turned in the recess 26 around its longitudinal axis, the roller 21 is rolled along the groove 16 irrespective of the change in the lead angle of the helical groove 16, so that rotation of a driving shaft 11 can be transmitted to a driven shaft 13 at a desired gear ratio. |
