<p>In a maintenance-free hinge support, particularly for a highly loaded hinges for hangin motor vehicle doors in which two hinge halves are pivotably connected together by means of a massive cylindrical hinge rod traversing hinge eyes of both hinge halves and provided with a bearing surface at least in the hinge eyes of one half, the bearing surface being formed by a metal-plastic combination material, the hinge rod is provided with a surface coating of a fluorocarbon resin and an additional lubricant coating. The contrast to known designs of maintenance-free hinge bearings, the use of bearing bushes as well as the costly machining of these and the troublesome fitting the bushes into the hinge eyes, is eliminated. Additional lubricant, particularly a grease can also be used to extend the length of life of the maintenance-free hinge bearing.</p> |
