<p>Mine roadway support formed from yielding frames of channel segments overlapped and connected at the ends and strutted by ties at right angles to the channels and pointing the same way and identically prestressed in all frames as in 2416284. Each channel is an I beam design, the segments (10, 11) resting on one another at the overlaps on the broad sides (2, 3) of their opposed flanges (4, 5). Each overlap has at least one load-acceptance bar (35, 36) which is fixed to one of the connectors (1) linking the segments. The bar is supported on the second of the two connectors by a locking piece whose slide resistance along the associated load bar determines the yield resistance of the overlapping support segments. One of the flanges (5) on segment (1) should have stays (7, 8) along its outside edges, the stays spaced by the width of the associated segment flange (41). The supporting sections or channels afforded by the two overlapped segments (10, 11) should be precisely registered one with another.</p> |
