PURPOSE:To realize a comfortable drive by providing, on a peripheral part of a piston rod, a contracted part formed so as to reduce an effective flow passage area with lowering of a piston responding to the car speed and hardening or softening a shock absorber according to increase or decrease of the car speed. CONSTITUTION:A contracted part 13 is formed by cooperation of a notch groove 14 on a peripheral part of a piston 11 responding to the car speed and a hole 15 on a piston rod 8. Width of the notch groove 14 grows gradually larger toward the bottom. In such a condition as the piston 11 responding to the car speed in the uppermost position, the effective sectional area of the contracted part 13 is the largest. When said piston 11 is in the lowermost position, the effective sectional area of the contracted part 13 is the smallest. In case a notch hole corresponding to the notch groove 14 is provided on the peripheral part of the piston rod 8, width of this notch hole is gradually reduced toward the bottom. |
