The carrying structure for a lateral cover for any road or rail vehicle comprises the framework 1 of a floor and a roof 6 connected together by ends 4 and delimiting the lateral openings which are usually closed by covers 7 which can be folded back longitudinally and are suspended from rails 21 of the lateral beams 13 belonging to the roof and interacting with supporting posts. According to the invention, the posts 25 are solidly attached to the combined cover 7 in order to follow it in its folding back and in its deployment, the ends of these posts interacting with bearing elements 27, 28 of the lateral beams 13 and of the framework 1 respectively. <IMAGE>
