摘要 PURPOSE:To attain the exposure control in sufficient response to an incident luminous amount even if it is changed significantly in the direction of increase, by decreasing the storage time of a photodiode less than the readout period. CONSTITUTION:A pulse phic is generated in addition to a pulse phix when the incident luminous amount is increased to an L3, the period of the pulse phix is decreased to tau3=N/fphi1 and the incident luminous amount is increased further, and the charge of each photodiode of a photoelectric converting section 5 is read out to an output path 7 with the pulse phic. The charge read out at an output circuit 6 with the pulse phix afterward corresponds to a period tauc when the pulse phic is generated until the pulse phix is generated next, in reading out the charge from the photodiode in this way. Thus, the readout of the charge at a shorter storage period tauc than the period (N/fphi1) is made possible in this case, and even if the amount is increased to the incident luminous amount L3 or over, the operation is attained with a further short storage time tauc accordingly.
