PURPOSE:To heat efficiently the end part of a material to be heated and to provide a desirable temp. distribution by heating the top and bottom surfaces near the edge of said material under movement with burners, and heating the side surfaces thereof with the radiation heat of air permeable solid materials provided on the side surfaces. CONSTITUTION:Bases 8a, 8b are moved and controlled to a material 1 to be heated under movement in a constant direction, and air permeable solid materials 10a, 10b are placed so as to face adequately to the material 1. The flames from burners 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b are blown with blowers 14a, 14b respectively to the part near the edges of the top and bottom surfaces of the material 1, thereby heating said parts. The flames turn further on the side surfaces at the edge ends of the material 1, and the waste combustion gas thereof is absorbed by the solid materials 10a, 10b so that the side surfaces of the material 1 are heated by the radiation heat of the materials 10a, 10b heated to high heat. The waste gas discharged into flues 9a, 9b passes between heat exchange pipes 18a, 18b to heat the air for combustion in the burners and is discharged from ceiling hoods 22a, 22b. |
