PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium superior in traveling performance, durability, and electromagnetic conversion characteristics, by using a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and acrylonitrile and maleic anhydride as a binder. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of 60-85wt% vinylidene chloride, 5-40wt% acrylonitrile, and 0.5-5wt% maleic anhydride having 200-700 polymn. degree, and 1.0-3.0mol.wt. distribution (MW/MN) is contained in a binder by >=80wt%. When <40%, dispersion of a ferromagnetic powder is deteriorated. A magnetic recording material obtained by such a compsn., especially, such an audio cassette tape has superior dispersibility of the ferromagnetic powder and electromagnetic conversion characteristics, as well as superior traveling performance and durability, as compared with the conventional tape contg. vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate/maleic anhydride. |
