PURPOSE:To form an optical transmission fiber having excellent adhesion between a core and a clad, by using a specific polymer consisting essentially of a 2, 2, 3, 3-tetrafluoropropylmethacrylate unit as a clad component. CONSTITUTION:(A) 69.96-99.95wt% 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropylmethacrylate (B) 0- 30wt% copolymerizable vinyl monomer (e.g.; methyl methacrylate) and (C) 0.05-10wt% a vinyl monomer that can form a hydrophilic homopolymer (e.g.; (meth)acrylic acid, glycidyl methacrylate, acrylamide) are mass polymerized in the presence of a radical polymn. initiator. The resulted copolymer as a clad component and a polymethyl methacrylate polymer or optical glass as a core component are subjected to melt coextrusion molding, whereby an optical transmission fiber is obtd. |
