To prevent the giving of credit, that is to say the dispensing of products, in a coin-operated or token-operated automatic machine having a coin tester (4) which uses the run-through speed of an inserted coin (17) as a test criterion, by manipulations with a coin fastened to a thread (16), it is proposed to provide in the coin channel (3, 5, 19) a swinging flap (7) which closes this channel after the passage of a coin and which, in the closing position, bears with one edge (12) against the wall (22) or behind a transverse edge (11, 11') provided on the wall in the coin channel. The swinging flap (7) clamps the thread (16) of the "thread coin" between the flap edge (12) and coin-channel wall (11, 22), brakes the run-through of the coin and thus reduces the coin speed, so that the thread coin is recognised as a false coin and is delivered to the coin rejection. At the same time, the swinging flap (7) is arranged, as seen in the running direction of the coin, in front of the zone in which the coin speed is used as a test criterion. <IMAGE>
