PURPOSE:To prepare the titled resin having high refractive index and resistant to yellowing after the exposure to ultraviolet radiation for a long period, by copolymerizing an ester of a specific nucleus halogen-substituted benzenedicarboxylic acid with a radically polymerizable monofunctional monomer containing aromatic ring and having high refractive index. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin for lens can be prepared by copolymerizing (A) one or more nucleus halogen-substituted benzenedicarboxylic acid esters of formula (X is Cl or Br; n is 2 or 4; m is 0 or 1; R is H or methyl) (e.g. 2,4- dichloroterephthalic acid bisallyl ester) with (B) one or more radically polymerizable monofunctional monomers containing an aromatic ring and having a refractive index of >=1.55 as a homopolymer (e.g. phenyl methacrylate, etc.). The amounts of the components (A) and (B) are preferably 10-80wt% and 20- 90wt%, respectively. EFFECT:The resin has excellent processability such as polishability. USE:Lens of eyeglasses, camera lens, and optical element.
