PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform accurate picture processing, by measuring the output levels of optical sensors in advance, and correcting excessive or insufficient amounts. CONSTITUTION:A pulse generating device 16 is connected to optical sensors of a line sensor 14 through an operating device 12. Uniform light is applied to each optical sensor, and the output of each optical sensor is read. When the optical sensor, whose output is higher than the output level of the other sensor, is present, the difference in the outputs of the optical sensors is stored in the device 12. At the time of measurement, correcting pulses are generated by the device 16 based on the command from the device 12. Said correcting pulses are imparted to the optical sensor to be corrected, and the correction is performed. Then, interference fringes of the light, which is projected on the sensor 14, are detected. The brightest point and the darkest point, which are obtained by a sine wave that is formed by the interference fringes are highly accurate. By observing the movements of the two points, the moving direction can be obtained at an accurate angular speed. |
