PURPOSE:To form a tape running face, which is superior in contact with a tape, on a sample, namely, a magnetic head, by providing a means, which controls the angular speed of the rocking motion of the sample, in a grinding device. CONSTITUTION:The grinding device consists of a tape running part which moves a grinding tape 5 back and forth and winds the tape 5 successively in one direction, a contact wheel 6 which gives a prescribed grinding pressure, a holding tool 10 holding a block 8 which holds a sample 7 (magnetic head) by adhesion, a motor 13 which moved vertically a rocking bar 11 connected to the holding tool 10 to rock the sample 7 around a rocking center 17 through a cam 12, and a sliding table 16 having a stage 15 which controls the position of the sample. In the grinding work of the magnetic head, the angular speed of the rocking motion is made higher within a range, where a nonmagnetic material part exists, near a gap. Thus, a dent from a cylinder face is not generated. The angular speed is controlled by a can and a motor which is rotated in a constant speed. |
