PURPOSE:To recognize toner density outside of a copying machine easily without using any special device, by detecting the toner density from the specific-capacity weight of a dry developer consisting of toner and a carrier. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 6 for full measurement is placed on a measuring cup 5 having the same diameter and the developer 2 is poured into the cup up to the middle of the cylinder 6. Then, the cylinder 6 is slid horizontally to remove the developer 2 along the upper edge of the cup 5, taking a specific-capacity measurement. The relation between the weight and density of the developer is less in variance as shown by a graph and linear. Thus, the weight of the developer and the toner density are in inverse proportion to each other, so the toner density is found from the weight; and the detection is carried out only by the container and a measure, thus taking the measurement easily outside of the device. |
