The decompression meter comprises a scale with a first section (10) corresponding to conditions in which decompression stops are not necessary and a second section (12) corresponding to conditions in which decompression stops are necessary. The second section (12) of the scale is supported by a segment which is movable along the scale. Associated with this segment is a manual manoeuvring member (16) which can be set up to bring about the movement of the segment itself. Means (16 - 52) for indicating the position of the segment (12) along the scale are provided. These positions are defined at least on the basis of the maximum depth reached, possibly also on the basis of the dwell time at this maximum depth as well as possibly also on the basis of the time between a previous dive and the dive in progress. <IMAGE>
