PURPOSE:A microbial strain belonging to Cladosporium genus and capable of decomposing fusaric acid is cultured and the obtained microbial cell is used for the prevention and inhibition of diseases caused by pathogens belonging to Fusarium genus. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain belonging to Cladosporium genus and capable of decomposing fusaric acid [e.g. Cladosporium werneckii DK2011 (FERM P-8633)] is cultured in a conventional medium produced by adding fusaric acid, saccharide, etc., to a carbon source. Fusaric acid in a conventional medium containing fusaric acid can be decomposed by culturing the strain in the medium under aerobic condition. As an alternative method, fusaric acid can be decomposed by using the resultant microbial cell, disintegrated cell or cell extract. |
