Then, a dictionary retrieving part 5 finds candidate characters in a dictionary 9 on the basis of the voice input supplied from the input buffer 2 to the dictionary retrieval register 6 through a line 4a, and the candidate characters are inputted to a candidate storage buffer 8 through a longest-length coincidence processing part 7.
