Process for treating the surface of an article made of aluminium alloys. This process is characterised in that this surface is coated with a thin layer of fine-grained aluminium whose purity is close to 99 % and in that the article thus coated is oxidised anodically so as to obtain a surface oxide layer whose thickness is greater than that of the substantially pure aluminium coating. This process makes it possible to obtain articles 10 comprising a first outer layer 11 of aluminium oxide, obtained by anodic oxidation of a thin layer of substantially pure aluminium and a deep second layer 12 of aluminium oxide obtained by in-depth anodic oxidation of the article made of aluminium alloys. <IMAGE>
