The invention concerns a method for indicating the occurrence of slag in a tapping stream when tapping molten metal from metallurgical containers having a tapping hole arranged in their bottom. The vibrations occurring in conjunction with the tapping are indicated and analysed in terms of frequency and amplitude. Since steel and slag produce different indications, one can use transmitters and receivers to quickly determine when the steel begins to run out during the tapping and the molten slag floating on top of the bath begins to occur in the tapping stream. |
