PURPOSE:To measure temperature variation continuously by arranging a ceramic material which varies in light transmissivity with temperature as a detection body and measuring the intensity of transmitted or reflected light from the detection body. CONSTITUTION:The detection body 5 is formed of the ceramic material with which Pb, La, and Zr (Pb1-x, Lax)(Zry, Ti1-y)1-x/4O3 varying in temperature-light transmissivity characteristic is mixed. For the purpose,the detection body 5 is arranged at a position where temperature is to be measured and irradiated with light with light intensity I0 from alight source device; and the detection body 5 has temperature-light transmissivity characteristics, so the light with light intensity I which is transmitted through the detection body 5 is converted photoelectrically by a photoelectric sensor 2 and a voltage V proportional to the light intensity is inputted to a voltage amplifier 3. Then, the amplifier 3 calculates the ratio (V/V0) between both voltages. Namely, a current proportional to the ratio I/I0 of light intensity is sent to a signal processor 4, linearized by a linearizer into temperature-voltage relation, and outputted as temperature. Consequently, the temperature variation is measured continuously and accurately.
