To prevent the release of solvent vapours from a fibre-tipped writing instrument, the tip region of the instrument is sealed towards the cap and/or towards the inner compartment of the housing by means of sealing tubes whose free end region rests on an abutment surface. According to the invention, the free end of the sealing tube is designed to have a reduced diameter, an obliquely inward-extending free end section advantageously being provided with a wall thickness which advantageously reduces towards the end, as a result of which moulding problems are reduced. Advantageously, the abutment surface is designed as an edge between a radial surface section and a coaxial surface section, so that the free end of the sealing tube is supported by its edge.
