The invention relates to a contact spring for relays, produced from stepped strip which is stepped three times. The contact spring is intended to have an intrinsic resistance which is as low as possible, with a compact construction, in order to carry heavy currents. This is achieved in that the end of the contact spring on the solder connection side and the end on the contact side each have a thick cross-section, and the thin bending part located in between is bent in the form of a hairpin.
